Best laid plans and look, it's a new book!

When you and your dog both have plans go wildly awry...

Fable's plan was simple: it was raining hard and all she wanted to do was go outside, do her business, and scurry back inside.

This did not happen.

In her rush to escape the rain, my fastidious dog -- a creature who walks around puddles and wrinkles her gummies in disgust at discarded turds -- made a fatal miscalculation.

She tried to start her flight just a little too soon.

Her leash is attached to my arm, and thus when she pulls, she goes in a circle. Normally this is not a problem. However, this time she started heading for the house before finishing her doggy business.

This not only created a stinky arc that demanded more than one poop bag be deployed. It brought her right back to where she started.

And for the first time in her fuzzy life, my dog put her foot. Right. In. It.

Let me tell you, she was NOT amused. In part because her rear foot was now covered in turd. But more because I now informed her that we would not be going directly home. Nope. Too bad, so sad, we were walking in the rain until that foot was no longer the wrong shade of brown.

She wailed her displeasure at the rain-filled sky. I laughed. And we both got completely, utterly soaked.

And once the foot was clean, we went home.

It was a timely reminder to me that the best laid plans sometimes fall spectacularly apart -- and even if you put your foot in it, things will be just fine in the end.

Which is my cue to say: did you know The Pandora Strain released in November? I had a great plan to tell you all about it on release day -- truly, it was an excellent plan, where I'd share some exciting quotes, a bit more art and give you the first look at the new cover and everything.

Clearly, that didn't happen.

So we're doing it now!

The Pandora Strain is ALIVE -- and how great is the new cover? I love how bold it is, and how well my hand-painted effect for "Strain" worked out.

Sadly, I'm having a little trouble getting the paperback to load. I will get there! The files are done and ready.

Unfortunately, I think the bots decided to take off early for the holidays, as they keep insisting my print file has images in the entirely blank margins... So apparently my publishing platforms also stepped in it? It looks like I have to wait until things wash out, but know I'm doing my best to get things solved.

I hope all who celebrate something at this time of year are getting to enjoy the season. If you need a break, I will just oh-so-casually recommend a hot beverage and curling up with a book packed with zombie action.

Luv,
Dee
