The perils of putting your house in order

Zombie love, magical emblems and ALL the authorly swag. Whew!

Putting my author house in order has been a major undertaking -- much more than I anticipated. It's good. It feels great to finally sort out the skeletons in my story-closet. But also... I might need to sit down.

I have spent the past three? four? more? weeks learning how big my author house is and how much work it needs-- which has been one heck of a learning experience. It's so much bigger than I thought! And wow does it need tending. It feels like the author version of a garden that's been allowed to grow wild for years, and now I have to dig it out.

There are brambles in there. Thorns. Probably a bunch of raccoons throwing a party with some booze they brewed in a wayward bin.

But. Despite the scale of the challenge, the fight itself is going well.

I've gotten A LOT done! There are now print version for all Four Houses books, updated print for Undead Shoes, an illustrated special edition for Harpy In White and an illustrated version of Pandora Strain. (No, none of this is online yet. But they exist and there will be physical copies at the event).

The books, they are so pretty.

So. Pretty.

And there are stickers and cards and all sorts of fun things for the con. Much like the crows that haunt my neighborhood, I do love shiny things.

*gleeful cackle* SHINY.

Okay, despite all the shiny, I would rather be writing. I have STORIES to tell. But until I finish wading through this admin work and event prep, I have to face facts: I just don't have the bandwidth to write while doing all the rest.

All of which is to say: writing will resume SOON.

I need this story, and I think you need it, too. For now, I'll shift from making things to updating my website and *GASP* making it possible to buy these lovely new books. Annnnnnnnd, if you're in the Windsor, Ontario area on June 20-22, come on down to Rose City! I would love to meet you!

Luv,
Dee
